Customs and Excise Will Not Be Dissolved Despite PT DSI's Existence, Purbaya Asserts
Jakarta - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has confirmed that the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) will not be dissolved due to the existence of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI), which is set to become the sole exporter of Indonesia’s strategic commodities such as crude palm oil (CPO), ferroalloys, and coal. “Will Customs be dissolved? It will not be dissolved,” Purbaya stressed at his office in Jakarta on Friday (5/6/2026).
Director General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance, Djaka Budhi Utama, added that until December 2026, his office still has the authority to provide inspection services for goods entering and leaving the customs area. He emphasised that PT DSI will subsequently operate alongside Customs in recording the movement of Indonesia’s strategic commodities out of the customs territory.
“Until December, Customs will perhaps continue to provide services as usual. What might be facilitated later is DSI itself, which could record or work alongside Customs, because the owners of the goods or exporters are involved there,” Djaka stated. He confirmed that after December 2026, when PT DSI conducts export activities for the three main commodities on its own, Customs will still have the authority to carry out customs inspections. “In the future, DSI may export independently, but Customs will remain at the forefront in handling its exports,” Djaka said.
