Cruise Ship Passengers Required to Pay Additional Rp 400,000 Due to Rising Oil Prices
Several luxury cruise brands have announced additional fares following the surge in global oil prices, a consequence of the Iran-United States (US) and Israel conflict.
Guests on the Genting Dream or Star Voyager cruises must pay at least an additional fee of 15 US dollars, or approximately Rp 250,000, per person.
This additional cruise fee applies from 20 March 2026 for passengers aged two years and above.
The Genting Dream cruise departing from Singapore and surrounding areas is subject to an additional fee of 15 Singapore dollars, or approximately Rp 200,000, per guest per night.
The Star Voyager cruise has also conveyed a similar announcement through an official statement posted on their official website.
βFor Star Voyager sailings departing from Hong Kong, a fuel surcharge of 200 Hong Kong dollars (Rp 450,000) per guest per night applies,β stated Star Voyager.
Furthermore, this additional fee will be reviewed according to fuel price movements and may be adjusted lower if oil prices fall, or revised for new bookings if oil prices continue to rise.
On the other hand, World Cruises stated that they have no plans to add fuel surcharges to guests.
It is worth noting that several ferry operators have announced that they will impose fuel surcharges starting at 6 US dollars, or around Rp 100,000, for one-way trips departing from Singapore starting 12 March.
An additional fee of approximately 11 US dollars, or around Rp 186,000, also applies to round-trip journeys between Singapore and Batam, Indonesia, and 12 US dollars, or Rp 200,000, for round-trip journeys between Singapore and Bintan, Indonesia.
