Cirebon Trade and Industry Office optimistic about stronger rattan product exports in 2026
Cirebon (ANTARA) - The Trade and Industry Office (Disperdagin) of Cirebon Regency, West Java, is optimistic that the export performance of rattan-based products from the region will strengthen in 2026, in line with the positive achievements in recent years. The Head of the Cirebon Regency Disperdagin, Suhartono, when contacted in Cirebon on Friday, stated that the export value of rattan and furniture products has remained relatively stable so far and shows a growth trend. He noted that the export value from that sector was recorded at US$102.79 million in 2023, then increased significantly in 2024 to US$156.97 million. Meanwhile, in 2025, said Suhartono, the export value stood at US$126.84 million, and this achievement still indicates positive performance. He conveyed that this export performance, particularly for rattan-based products, could strengthen again during the 2026 period despite the current global dynamics. He explained that the rattan industry, as one of the mainstay exports, still uses imported materials, especially for finishing processes such as petroleum-based varnish. That condition, he said, does indeed affect production costs, but it does not significantly disrupt export performance. “There is indeed an impact from imported raw materials like varnish, but we monitor that it is not too significant on exports,” he said.
