BSI (BRIS) AGM Appoints MUI Deputy Chairman as Independent Commissioner

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BRIS) has agreed to make changes to its board of commissioners. This decision was approved at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) held today, Tuesday (5 May 2026).

The Indonesian state-owned sharia bank has decided to appoint Sigit Pramono as commissioner and Muhammad Cholil Nafis, Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), as independent commissioner.

Sigit replaces Meidy Firmansyah, while Cholil replaces Muhammad Syafii Antonio.

For context, this agenda for changes in management was an additional item announced alongside the rescheduling of the AGM. It was originally set for 17 April 2026.

“The Shareholders’ Meeting decision regarding the appointment and dismissal of members of the Company’s Board of Commissioners also determines the effective date of such appointment and dismissal. If the Shareholders’ Meeting does not specify, the appointment and dismissal of members of the Board of Commissioners shall take effect from the closing of the Shareholders’ Meeting,” BSI management stated in a disclosure of information.

Members of the Company’s Board of Commissioners are appointed for a term beginning from the date determined by the Shareholders’ Meeting that appoints them and ending at the closing of the fifth Annual Shareholders’ Meeting following the date of their appointment.

Both individuals will become effective after passing the fitness and propriety test from the Financial Services Authority.
