JAKARTA — PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BRI, has distributed sustainable loans totalling 811.9 trillion rupiah through December 2025.

The bank’s Director of Network and Retail Funding, Aquarius Rudianto, stated that the portfolio comprises BRI social loans of 718.7 trillion rupiah directed towards micro-financing, SME financing, and subsidised housing finance. This is complemented by BRI green loans of 93.2 trillion rupiah allocated to various environmentally conscious projects including renewable energy, energy efficiency, pollution prevention and control, sustainable land management, green transportation, eco-efficient products, and green buildings.

“BRI’s sustainable loans portfolio of 811.9 trillion rupiah represents 60.5 per cent of BRI’s total loan portfolio,” Rudianto stated in a written statement on Tuesday (10 March 2026).

Rudianto noted that sustainability principles have been integrated into BRI’s long-term strategic direction as a foundation for strengthening a resilient business model. This orientation serves as the basis for ensuring growth is aligned with the transition agenda towards a low-carbon economy whilst expanding financial inclusion.

Furthermore, BRI’s commitment to advancing the sustainability agenda aligns with the government’s Asta Cita, which emphasises strengthening the alignment of life that is harmonious with the environment, nature, and culture.

“Overall, this approach demonstrates that sustainability at BRI is not merely oriented towards regulatory compliance, but has become an integral part of the Bank’s growth strategy. This integration strengthens business resilience, expands access to responsible financing, and provides added social and environmental value to all stakeholders,” he added.

BRI has also received recognition from international ESG rating agencies. The company obtained a score of 74 out of 100 on the Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2025 by S&P Global and has been listed as a Sustainability Yearbook Member for four consecutive years in the 2023–2026 period. Additionally, Sustainalytics has placed BRI in the Low ESG Risk category, and MSCI has awarded it an A rating.
