BPS: Foreign Tourist Arrivals Grow 13.37% in February 2026
Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded 1.16 million foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia in February 2026, an increase of 13.37% compared to February 2025 (year-on-year/yoy).
BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Ateng Hartono stated during a hybrid press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday that cumulatively, for the January-February 2026 period, foreign tourist arrivals reached 2.35 million, 7.77% higher than the same period last year.
By nationality, Malaysian tourists topped the list with 199,220 arrivals (17.18%).
The next largest groups were Chinese tourists with 150,820 arrivals (13.01%), and Singaporeans with 109,330 arrivals (9.43%).
“Chinese tourist arrivals in February 2026 grew 68.89% annually,” Ateng said.
He continued that Singaporean tourist arrivals grew 21.81%, while Malaysian arrivals declined by 7.17%.
Furthermore, BPS recorded domestic tourist movements (wisnus) in February 2026 at 91.14 million trips, 0.70% higher than the previous year.
Cumulatively, domestic tourist trips for January-February 2026 reached 193.17 million, down 0.17% from the same period last year.
“Historically, domestic tourist trips in February have always been lower than in January in recent years,” Ateng said.
On the other hand, rail passenger numbers reached 43.27 million people, up 2.94% from the same period last year.
Passenger departures also increased in domestic sea transport, recorded at 2.03 million people or up 0.15%, and ASDP ferry passengers up 1.49% to 3.51 million people.
Meanwhile, domestic air passengers were recorded at 4.08 million people, down 7.23% from February 2025.
“This decline in passenger departures also occurred in international air transport, recorded at 1.51 million people or down 4.71%,” Ateng said.
