        "content": "<p>Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded 1.16 million foreign tourist\narrivals in Indonesia in February 2026, an increase of 13.37% compared\nto February 2025 (year-on-year\/yoy).<\/p>\n<p>BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Ateng Hartono\nstated during a hybrid press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday that\ncumulatively, for the January-February 2026 period, foreign tourist\narrivals reached 2.35 million, 7.77% higher than the same period last\nyear.<\/p>\n<p>By nationality, Malaysian tourists topped the list with 199,220\narrivals (17.18%).<\/p>\n<p>The next largest groups were Chinese tourists with 150,820 arrivals\n(13.01%), and Singaporeans with 109,330 arrivals (9.43%).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChinese tourist arrivals in February 2026 grew 68.89% annually,\u201d\nAteng said.<\/p>\n<p>He continued that Singaporean tourist arrivals grew 21.81%, while\nMalaysian arrivals declined by 7.17%.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, BPS recorded domestic tourist movements (wisnus) in\nFebruary 2026 at 91.14 million trips, 0.70% higher than the previous\nyear.<\/p>\n<p>Cumulatively, domestic tourist trips for January-February 2026\nreached 193.17 million, down 0.17% from the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHistorically, domestic tourist trips in February have always been\nlower than in January in recent years,\u201d Ateng said.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, rail passenger numbers reached 43.27 million\npeople, up 2.94% from the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>Passenger departures also increased in domestic sea transport,\nrecorded at 2.03 million people or up 0.15%, and ASDP ferry passengers\nup 1.49% to 3.51 million people.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, domestic air passengers were recorded at 4.08 million\npeople, down 7.23% from February 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis decline in passenger departures also occurred in international\nair transport, recorded at 1.51 million people or down 4.71%,\u201d Ateng\nsaid.<\/p>",
