The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj have begun implementing the 2026 Indonesian Hajj Service Satisfaction Survey (SKLHI). A total of 14,400 pilgrims are targeted as respondents to map the overall quality of Hajj services this year. The survey results will be used as evaluation material for Hajj implementation, from departure in Indonesia to the series of rituals in Saudi Arabia. Sampling is conducted using probability sampling techniques to make the survey results more representative and free from intervention. “We do not select samples. All pilgrims have an equal opportunity to provide assessments, so the data produced is truly valid and does not just take positive testimonials,” emphasised BPS Chief Inspector, Dadang Hardiawan, on Tuesday (12/5). This year’s evaluation uses a different methodology compared to previous surveys. Dadang stated that BPS not only measures the final outcomes of services but also assesses the entire process experienced by pilgrims. “We do not only look at the final results or service outputs, but also delve into every process they go through,” said Dadang. Satisfaction measurement is divided into three main clusters. The first cluster covers domestic services. Aspects evaluated include administration, transportation to the airport, embarkation dormitory comfort, and readiness of Hajj officials. The second cluster covers overseas services. Assessments are made on hotels, tents in Arafah and Mina, inter-city transportation, worship facilities, and health services. The third cluster focuses on catering. Assessments include nutritional quality, menu variety, timeliness of food distribution, and orderliness of meal provision.
