BKPM Launches Online Tracking System for Investment Licensing
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has launched an Online Tracking System for monitoring investment licensing processes to improve services for prospective investors.
BKPM Chairman Muhamad Chatib Basri said the system would make the licensing process more transparent and provide greater certainty. "This system enables investors to know precisely where their licensing application stands. It will make investors feel more comfortable," Chatib said at the system's launch at the BKPM office in Jakarta on Wednesday, 24 October 2012.
Through the system, accessible via the BKPM website, investors can obtain detailed information on their licensing process. Investors simply need to enter the business permit application code received from the BKPM service counter into the online tracking field.
"It can be accessed from a smartphone, laptop, or iPad. So there is no need to come in person," said the University of Indonesia Faculty of Economics lecturer.
The data displayed on the website will include the company name and the type of licence being processed. It will also show the latest position of the document and the estimated completion time. Additionally, there is a notes column indicating any obstacles in the licensing process.
"We have held discussions with several parties, such as Kadin, Apindo, and ambassadors. Their suggestion, which we may accommodate, is that these notes could be sent via e-mail to the applicant," Chatib Basri said.
Chatib said that in the medium term, the system is expected to accelerate the licensing process, as greater oversight from all parties would encourage officials to work more effectively. "If things are slow, it will be noticed. So we cannot afford to be complacent here," he said.
Currently, the online tracking system is only available for investors who submit licensing applications at the BKPM One-Stop Integrated Service (PTSP). In future, it is hoped the system can be implemented at provincial, regency, and municipal PTSP offices throughout Indonesia.
