TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has\nlaunched an Online Tracking System for monitoring investment licensing\nprocesses to improve services for prospective investors.<\/p>\n
BKPM Chairman Muhamad Chatib Basri said the system would make the\nlicensing process more transparent and provide greater certainty. \u201cThis\nsystem enables investors to know precisely where their licensing\napplication stands. It will make investors feel more comfortable,\u201d\nChatib said at the system\u2019s launch at the BKPM office in Jakarta on\nWednesday, 24 October 2012.<\/p>\n
Through the system, accessible via the BKPM website, investors can\nobtain detailed information on their licensing process. Investors simply\nneed to enter the business permit application code received from the\nBKPM service counter into the online tracking field.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt can be accessed from a smartphone, laptop, or iPad. So there is\nno need to come in person,\u201d said the University of Indonesia Faculty of\nEconomics lecturer.<\/p>\n
The data displayed on the website will include the company name and\nthe type of licence being processed. It will also show the latest\nposition of the document and the estimated completion time.\nAdditionally, there is a notes column indicating any obstacles in the\nlicensing process.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have held discussions with several parties, such as Kadin,\nApindo, and ambassadors. Their suggestion, which we may accommodate, is\nthat these notes could be sent via e-mail to the applicant,\u201d Chatib\nBasri said.<\/p>\n
Chatib said that in the medium term, the system is expected to\naccelerate the licensing process, as greater oversight from all parties\nwould encourage officials to work more effectively. \u201cIf things are slow,\nit will be noticed. So we cannot afford to be complacent here,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Currently, the online tracking system is only available for investors\nwho submit licensing applications at the BKPM One-Stop Integrated\nService (PTSP).
