Bekasi City Government has officially established new regulations for the Student Admission System (SPMB) for the 2026/2027 academic year through the Mayor of Bekasi’s Decree Number 400.3/Kep.195-Disdik/IV/2026. This policy outlines the mechanism for admitting students to kindergarten (TK), primary school (SD), and junior secondary school (SMP) levels, with a strong emphasis on equitable access to education. The Bekasi City Government states that the system is designed to guarantee fair and quality educational access for all residents. One of its main instruments is the division of admission pathways with specific quotas, including affirmative pathways for underprivileged families. Under the latest regulations, the domicile pathway receives the largest quota. On the other hand, the mutation pathway has the smallest quota, at a maximum of 5%. This pathway is intended for prospective students whose parents are relocating due to job transfers. Meanwhile, the affirmative pathway remains open as a form of support for families with limited economic conditions. Prospective students from this group must provide proof of registration in social welfare data. In its implementation, the registration system is conducted differently based on the educational level. For kindergarten, the registration process is carried out offline. Parents or guardians are required to upload complete and clear requirement documents. General documents that must be prepared include birth certificates, family cards, Child Identity Cards (KIA), certificates of graduation or diplomas, and absolute responsibility statements from parents. In addition, there are specific documents according to the chosen pathway. For example, certificates of registration in DTSEN for the affirmative pathway, disability certificates, parental job transfer letters for the mutation pathway, and achievement certificates for the achievement pathway.
