Batam — The Batam City Health Department in the Riau Islands (Kepri) has mobilised medical personnel at six health posts across key transport hubs to provide healthcare services for homecomers during the Islamic holiday period of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri in 2026.

Didi Kusmarjadi, head of the Batam City Health Department, stated that the health posts were established to anticipate medical service requirements for residents travelling home during the Eid holiday period.

“In total, we have established six posts at key passenger movement points,” Didi said when contacted in Batam on Saturday.

He explained that the posts are located at Hang Nadim Airport, Punggur Domestic Port, Punggur ASDP Roro Port, Sekupang Port, Batam Centre Port, and Batu Ampar Port.

At Hang Nadim Airport, Sekupang Port, and Batu Ampar Port, Didi noted, healthcare services operate on an on-call basis because these locations already have healthcare facilities and medical teams from local operators.

“The airport already has a clinic and medical team, so our staff are on-call should additional personnel be needed,” he said.

Meanwhile, posts at Punggur Domestic Port, Punggur ASDP Roro Port, and Batam Centre Port have direct medical presence.

“The first aid teams consist of doctors and nurses equipped with emergency equipment and basic medications to prevent unforeseen situations during the mass homeward migration,” he said.

Beyond medical staff, the posts are equipped with supporting items including stretchers, oxygen, medications, disposable medical materials (BMHP), and other medical equipment.

Didi noted that these healthcare services will be in operation throughout the Eid holiday period, from 13 March to 25 March 2026.

“Medical personnel will work in rotation according to the nearest health centre,” he said.

Didi added that staff on duty at the posts have been instructed to ensure the readiness of medical equipment and to report field conditions regularly.
