Indonesia’s Narcotics Crime Directorate (Dirtipidnarkoba) of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim Polri) has dismantled an ecstasy distribution operation at a nightclub in Denpasar, Bali. In this operation, police arrested three individuals and seized hundreds of ecstasy pills.

Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, head of Dirtipidnarkoba Bareskrim Polri, explained that the discovery began with public information regarding drug distribution activities that had been occurring for some time at a nightclub in Denpasar. Based on this intelligence, a combined team led by Sub-directorate IV Commander Kombes Handik Zusen and the NIC Task Force led by Kombes Kevin Leleury traced the illegal operation.

“On Saturday, 14 March 2026 at approximately 21:30 Western Indonesian Time, the team conducted an undercover operation posing as visitors and ordered VIP Room 2 (Karaoke Room),” Eko stated on Monday (16/3/2026).

Early on Sunday morning, the team conducted an undercover purchase, ordering 12 ecstasy pills from a waiter. The items were then forwarded to the Captain Room, Muhammad Rokip (27), who was immediately apprehended whilst inside the room.

“On Sunday, 15 March 2026 at approximately 00:30 Western Indonesian Time, undercover personnel conducted a purchase by ordering 12 ecstasy pills from the waiter serving in VIP Room 2,” Eko explained.

“The waiter then relayed the order to the Captain Room named Muhammad Rokip, who subsequently entered VIP Room 2 to process the order,” he continued.

From Rokip, police recovered 38 pink ‘LV’ branded ecstasy pills and 600 additional ecstasy pills from inside his motorcycle seat.

The investigation then extended to waiter I Gusti Bagus Adi Pramana (41), who had previously received the drug order. From interrogation, it was revealed that the narcotics had been obtained from New Star Club Manager I Wayan Subawa (27).

“The team then apprehended I Wayan Subawa as the club manager. According to interrogation results, I Wayan Subawa stated that the drug distribution was conducted by an individual named Opik (fugitive) and his associates,” Eko stated.

It was found that Opik and his associates were not official club staff. However, they frequently remained in the parking area and distributed narcotics to club visitors.

Eko explained that the contraband was delivered by a courier who always wore a helmet and mask, then placed near a water pump in the parking area. The distributor retrieved the items and distributed them to visitors through VIP Room orders or direct requests.

“After the items were distributed, the money from drug sales was then placed back at the water pump location (attachment system). Subsequently, the money was collected by the operational management for inspection and accounting,” Eko disclosed.

Three individuals were designated as suspects in this case: Muhammad Rokip, I Wayan Subawa and I Gusti Bagus Adi Pramana. Police also designated six individuals as fugitives: Opik, Fernandi, Nadir, Andika, Anta and I Dewa Ketut Wiranida.

Beyond apprehending the suspects, police conducted searches of visitors. Of the 43 individuals apprehended, comprising 28 men and 15 women, preliminary urine tests indicated 24 men and 13 women tested positive for drug use.

Police then collaborated with the Bali Provincial Narcotics Agency (BNNP Bali) for further assessment to determine dependency levels and clarify the visitors’ roles – whether as drug users or linked to the distribution network.

“The team subsequently coordinated with BNNP Bali to conduct an assessment through the Integrated Assessment Team (TAT) mechanism to determine dependency levels and the role of the visitors in the narcotics case, whether as substance abusers requiring rehabilitation or those indicating involvement in drug distribution,” Eko added.

In this operation, police seized 638 ecstasy pills of various brands and colours, cash totalling Rp19.3 million from the karaoke room and Rp170,000 from the parking area, along with several mobile phones, wallets, motorcycle keys, vehicle registration documents and ATM cards.

Eko stated that drug distribution at this location was conducted in a structured manner. Additionally, the club management knew of the drug distribution activities and received a share of the proceeds.

“The distribution of ecstasy at this club was conducted in a structured manner, utilising the nightclub facility as a distribution channel to visitors,” Eko said.

Consequently, the force will continue investigating the possible involvement of other parties. The club has now been cordoned off with police tape for further investigation.
