Bali Airport Handles 595,000 Passengers Over Ten Days of Lebaran Transport Post
Denpasar (ANTARA) - Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has recorded transporting 595,000 passengers over the ten days of the 2026 Lebaran Transport Post operations. “I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has served up to 595,000 passenger movements over ten days. This figure represents a 4% growth compared to the same period last year,” stated General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Nugroho Jati. Nugroho Jati, in his statement in Denpasar on Monday, said that the high numbers were not only on the passenger side but also in terms of aircraft movements. Aircraft movements from 13-22 March 2026 reached 3,623, or a 5% increase compared to the same period in the 2025 Lebaran Transport Post. This figure was also influenced by the realisation of additional flight requests by several airlines. “Up to 22 March, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali has recorded serving 104 additional flights out of a total of 144 submissions,” he said. During this Eid al-Fitr homecoming season, the most additional flights were for round-trip routes from Denpasar to Jakarta (CGK), Denpasar to Surabaya, followed by Denpasar to Semarang. Nugroho Jati assured that although the airport in South Bali was busy during this long holiday period, all flight operations and services to users ran optimally during the Lebaran Transport Post. “Amid the traffic growth during this Lebaran transport period, we as airport managers are committed to always providing optimal services to all users during this busy period. We can report that flight operations, airport services, and services to all airport users are running smoothly, optimally, and safely,” he said. Over the past ten days, airport management also monitored passenger traffic, revealing that the peak arrival movements occurred on Wednesday (18/3) with 71,442 passengers and 412 aircraft movements. “We project the peak return movement to occur on Saturday, 28 March 2026, with a projection of 73,000 passengers,” he added. To support the cheer of this long holiday, following the Bali cultural parade before Nyepi Day, the airport now features an Idul Fitri atmosphere. For instance, on Friday (20/3), I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali presented thematic activities in the form of Middle Eastern dances at the domestic and international terminals. “Not only ensuring the smoothness of flight and airport operations, we are also committed to providing unforgettable experiences to all airport users ahead of Eid al-Fitr. This is one of our commitments to delivering memorable experiences,” Nugroho Jati stated.
