ADO Appreciates South Sumatra Police Chief, Calls Police Strategic Partners for Drivers
The Chairman of the Online Driver Association (ADO) in South Sumatra, Asrul, has expressed appreciation for the attention and support from the South Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Sandi Nugroho, towards the online motorcycle taxi driver community in South Sumatra. He described the police as partners of online drivers.
This was stated by Asrul during the inauguration of the ADO Presisi Kedai located on Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim, Seberang Ulu I Subdistrict, Palembang City, on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
Asrul emphasised that the police have maintained a very close relationship with online drivers. According to him, the daily activities of ojol drivers on the roads make them inseparable from the police’s role in aspects of security, safety, and traffic order.
“The police have always been our partners. We are never disconnected from the police, especially on the roads. We are road workers who are highly vulnerable to accidents,” said Asrul to reporters on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
He viewed the presence of the South Sumatra Police Chief at the inauguration of the ADO Presisi Kedai as a tangible form of the Indonesian National Police’s concern for the online driver community. Moreover, the facility is not only a resting place but also a space for communication, education, aspirations, and strengthening synergy between the police and the ojol community.
Asrul also expressed gratitude for the cooperation built between the South Sumatra Regional Police and ADO South Sumatra. According to him, this support provides new motivation for online drivers to continue playing a positive role in society.
“Thank you immensely for the cooperation built between the police and the South Sumatra Online Driver Association,” he stated.
On that occasion, Asrul also conveyed that online drivers are a community group with an important role on the roads. Besides earning a living, drivers can also serve as police partners in providing quick information on potential security and public order disturbances as well as field situations.
In line with this, South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Pol Sandi Nugroho described online motorcycle taxi drivers as strategic partners of the police in maintaining community security and order.
“Fellow online motorcycle taxi drivers are strategic partners of the police in taking anticipatory steps against various potential security and public order disturbances quickly and accurately. This spirit is an inseparable part of our joint commitment, Nyago Bumi Sriwijaya, Aman Bae,” emphasised the Police Chief.
The inauguration of the ADO Presisi Kedai also marks the strengthening of 21 Kamtibmas Kedais spread across 17 police resort and metropolitan police jurisdictions under the South Sumatra Regional Police. The event was also attended online by police resorts under its command.
The inauguration carried the tagline ‘Ngopi Presisi, Raso Palembang’. The ADO Presisi Kedai is equipped with various facilities, from community gathering spaces, motorcycle workshops, vehicle steaming areas, police service stalls, to places of worship.
Asrul affirmed that his side is ready to support police efforts in maintaining security and public order, as well as encouraging all ADO members to remain orderly and cautious while working on the roads.
“I have instructed all members in Palembang City to always be careful on the roads and always obey traffic rules,” he said.
Meanwhile, the South Sumatra Police Chief hopes that the ADO Presisi Kedai can become a productive collaboration space between the National Police and the online driver community. Through this facility, synergy between the police and the community is expected to grow stronger in realising a safe, orderly, and conducive South Sumatra.
With this spirit of togetherness, the ADO Presisi Kedai is hoped not only to be a symbol of closeness between the National Police and the online driver community but also a living space for growing concern, communication, and concrete actions in maintaining community security and order.
This synergy proves that maintaining security and public order is not solely the police’s task but a shared responsibility of all societal elements, including online drivers who are present and active daily in the midst of citizens’ lives.
