So you actually want to mine and build regular power plants in protected forests. I'll bet companies in those sectors welcomed the news.

Indonesian Lenders Planning to Create Credit Bureau to Expand Market Reach

Domestic lenders are planning to establish an independent credit bureau to help target retail customers and small companies, a senior PT Bank Danamon executive said on Wednesday. To speed up the loan-application process, the credit bureau would be designed to offer lenders more up-to-date and detailed information about existing debtors and about potential new customers who lack a traditional credit history, said Joseph Luhukay, Bank Danamon’s vice president director.

A new presidential decree allowing mining, power plant, transport and renewable energy projects in protected forests was welcomed by companies in those sectors on Wednesday. PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy said it could now proceed with the construction of geothermal projects that could produce as much as 1,340 megawatts of power. “We welcome the government decree to allow such projects, especially geothermal power plants, in the protected forests,” said Adiatma Sardjito, a PGE spokesman.

Agricultural Exports Face Cargo Problems

TEMPO Interactive, Semarang:The Central Java Agriculture Office’s Food, Plants and Horticulture chief Aris Budiono said the exports of horticultural products face delivery problems because no airlines have offered direct cargo delivery overseas. “That is why horticultural exporters are not from Central Java,” he said yesterday. Yet, some horticultural products from the province, like fruit, can be marketed overseas.
