Indonesia's Energy Firms Eager To Access Forest Land

| | Source: JAKCHAT
Oh how thinly veiled is this? From the slant, you'd think that they're trying to set up nothing but geothermal energy plants. You almost miss the intro:

Quote:
A new presidential decree allowing mining, power plant, transport and renewable energy projects in protected forests was welcomed by companies in those sectors on Wednesday.

So you actually want to mine and build regular power plants in protected forests. I'll bet companies in those sectors welcomed the news.

Quote:
PGE currently operates geothermal plants in West Java and North Sulawesi, with a combined capacity of 272 MW.

Pertamina's ouput of oil for 2009 averaged 181,000 barrels per day. I wonder how many megawatts that would convert to?

Drill, baby, drill.
