Humanity beyond religion Muhamad Ali, Manoa, Hawai I do not known of any disaster more horrific or more touching than the earthquake and tsunami that hit Asia. Virtually everybody in the world is deeply touched and tearful. It is hard to imagine a natural disaster so devastating, taking about one hundred and fifty thousand lives and destroying human civilizations. The tidal wave was not the biggest in recorded history but the devastation in terms of human lives may be the biggest ever.

Court cases in Aceh to proceed KENDARI, South East Sulawesi: Minister for Justice and Human Rights Hamid Awaluddin said that all legal cases currently in process in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam will continue even though documents and papers in the cases might have been swept away by the tsunami that hit the province two weeks ago. He said that courts would be able to use copies of any missing documents, which are available at the Attorney General's Office and the Supreme Court.

Driving in Jakarta Regarding The Jakarta Post's article --Driving in Jakarta to slow to snail's pace by 2020 on Dec. 17 -- I take the liberty to send my opinion as follows: The cheap partial solution to traffic in Jakarta is to enforce the "intersection blocking rule". This violation must be treated the same as running a red light or a stop sign. This rule states a vehicle may not enter the intersection unless the space in front is sufficient to make sure the intersection is not blocked.
