Alternative energy for electricity

From Bisnis Indonesia

The high world oil price will certainly raise the cost of
power production by state electricity company (PLN), whose cost
components are 25 percent composed of fuel oil.

Therefore, PLN should adopt a new policy to replace fuel in
its power production with any of the other alternatives available
in Indonesia. In 1989, I handled a research project on
alternative energy production technology.

This technology is specially designed to change organic waste
into heat and solid fuel within a short time, which can be
operated throughout the year.

The reactor used for this purpose is effective for processing
waste from the industries of palm oil, coconuts, sago, cane
sugar, paddy, corn, saw dust, household garbage and peat.

The heat produced by the reactor reaches 1,000 degrees
centigrade and can be utilized to turn out high pressure steam
for power generating turbines and steam power plants.

Active carbon is the reactor's main product, which is most
needed by the industries of food/beverages, drinking water,
pharmacy, chemistry, petrochemistry, gas, rubber, metallurgy,
military, electronics, mining and industrial waste filters.
