Zurich Indonesia Accelerates Health Insurance Business with Rapid Premium Growth
Jakarta — Zurich Indonesia has recorded strong growth in its health insurance business line in early 2026. The company views this momentum as aligned with strengthened industry regulation and increasing public demand for health protection.
Edhi Tjahja Negara, Country Manager of Zurich Indonesia and President Director of PT Zurich Asuransi Indonesia Tbk, stated that the health insurance industry is currently in a more solid growth phase. According to him, strengthened regulation and increased public financial literacy are opening opportunities to expand health protection access to more families across Indonesia.
“The early-year momentum through the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr periods is an opportune time for the industry to introduce product innovations whilst expanding the reach of health protection,” said Edhi during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, 9 March 2026.
The Financial Services Authority projects that insurance industry assets will grow by approximately 5–7 per cent in 2026. Zurich views this trend as an opportunity to strengthen product innovation and expand health protection access for the public.
Nailul Huda, economist at the Center of Economic and Law Studies (CELIOS), stated that the insurance industry’s prospects in 2026 remain promising. According to him, industry fundamentals are strengthening with growing managed assets and enhanced regulation and supervision that improve governance in the insurance sector.
“The dynamics of health risks and global economic uncertainty also make the public increasingly aware of the importance of having comprehensive financial protection,” said Nailul.
Zurich’s health business line performance showed significant growth in January 2026. The Medicillin group health insurance product recorded gross written premium growth of approximately 40 per cent annually. Meanwhile, the Zurich Optimal Health Assurance (ZOHA) individual health insurance product grew over 20 per cent.
Zurich also launched its Zurich Critical Care critical illness protection product, which has received a positive market response since its early-year launch.
Fred Chan, Director of PT Zurich Topas Life, stated that rising public demand for health protection is driving the company to strengthen product innovation. “We are reinforcing ZOHA as a comprehensive and flexible health protection solution, and introducing Zurich Critical Care as a complement to critical illness protection,” said Fred.
In the Islamic finance line, Zurich is also developing affordable micro health products such as Dengue Fever Micro, Typhoid Micro, and Hospital Cash Plan Micro. These products have recorded growth of over 40 per cent.
Hilman Simanjuntak, President Director of PT Zurich General Takaful Indonesia, stated that micro Islamic products are an inclusive solution to expand health protection access for the public. “These products are designed with affordable contributions and simple processes to make them more accessible to the general public,” said Hilman.
To expand insurance inclusion, Zurich also provides free personal accident insurance for 1,500 homebound migrants during the Eid al-Fitr return migration period from 17–26 March 2026. The programme is accessible to the public until 13 March 2026 through the company’s official website.
Edhi stressed that Zurich will continue to strengthen product innovation and distribution collaboration so that more people can obtain protection suited to their needs.
“We want to continue being a trusted protection partner for Indonesian society through solutions that are relevant and sustainable,” said Edhi.
