Zuckerberg Designs AI to Become Boss, Set to Manage Thousands of Facebook Employees and Others
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly developing a personal AI agent to help him run the company. Rather than a standard digital assistant, this AI is designed to take on a role akin to a “chief of staff”. Its tasks include helping Zuckerberg access information, analyse data, and accelerate decision-making. According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, the AI is still in the development stage but has already begun internal use to speed up information searches. With this system, the Meta boss no longer needs to navigate multiple layers of management or bureaucracy to obtain required data. The AI agent will directly retrieve and present information instantly. This step is part of the parent company’s strategy for Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads to enhance work efficiency amid a large organisation, with the number of employees estimated at nearly 79,000 globally. Meta itself is promoting the use of agent-based AI technology internally. Employees are already using various tools, such as MyClaw and Second Brain, to assist with daily work, from accessing documents to collaborating with colleagues. One direction being pursued is to make the company structure leaner, by reducing management layers and assigning more roles to individuals, aided by AI systems. However, this approach also raises new questions about the future of work, including at the management level. Some observers believe AI now not only threatens entry-level jobs but is beginning to encroach on strategic roles like executives. Nevertheless, for now, the AI functions as a companion rather than a replacement. Final decisions remain in human hands, as compiled by KompasTekno from Coin Telegraph and Financial Express. This step also runs parallel to major efficiency drives. Meta is reportedly considering a wave of layoffs of up to 20 percent or more, in line with increasing expenditure on AI infrastructure.
