Zarina asks Roy to come clean

JAKARTA (JP): Zarina, the actress on trial for owning 29,677 ecstasy pills, said Wednesday in her rebuttal that she had asked Roy, a friend she had claimed was the owner of the pills, to return home and take responsibility for his actions.

Prosecutor Rezia Djamil has asked the West Jakarta District Court to sentence 24-year-old Zarina to five years imprisonment for possessing the pills.

The charges were based on the 1992 Health Law, which sets a maximum penalty of 15 years imprisonment for anyone caught producing or distributing dangerous drugs. Ecstasy comes under this definition.

Zarina also begged the court to free her because she was an innocent victim.

"I ask Roy to come clean and take responsibility for this because I didn't do anything," she said.

She also said that she was not an owner, seller, user or possessor of Ecstasy and that she had trusted Roy too much. (12)
