Young people's lifestyles
Young people's lifestyles
From Pikiran Rakyat
I refer to the letter from Raditya (Pikiran Rakyat, Nov. 26,
1996) on the way teenagers wear their hair.
In my opinion today's youth have the tendency to adopt
anything "modern" which has a negative impact. This is evident in
their clothes, accessories and hairstyles.
Strangely enough, this is not only evident among young people
from well-to-do families who can afford whatever they wish. It is
also found among youngsters of financially less-fortunate
families.
In fact, environment is the most dominant factor in molding
young people's personalities. Therefore, it is essential that the
young be able to show their true characters, and resist bad and
negative things. They should be able to distinguish bad from good
while mixing with people of different personalities and
lifestyles. The ability to exercise self-control and live
modestly is a valuable asset.
