Yon Zipur 16/DA accelerates Bailey bridge construction in North Aceh
The Bailey bridge between Blang Reubik village and Buket Sendang village, Lhoksukon District, North Aceh Regency, was built to replace the previous bridge damaged by floods and landslides that struck the area in late November 2025. Yon Zipur 16/DA reports that field personnel are working at full capacity to complete the Bailey bridge, which is now 92 per cent complete, according to Kapendam Iskandar Muda, Colonel Inf T Musatafa Kamal, in Banda Aceh on Tuesday. The construction is carried out by personnel of Yon Zipur 16/DA as part of humanitarian duties and support for accelerating the recovery of disaster-affected regional infrastructure. The presence of the Army’s Engineer Battalion represents a rapid response in helping local government and communities to ensure transport access can be restored soon. The construction is designed to be able to bear loads of two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles and ensure user safety for the required duration. The road stretch connecting Blang Reubik and Buket Sendang has a vital role in supporting community mobility, because the route is the main access for residents to reach the sub-district centre, traditional markets, educational facilities, health services and distribution routes for agricultural and plantation products that are a source of livelihood for the local community. The Bailey bridge’s existence is a tangible sign of the Indonesian Army’s commitment to support local government in accelerating infrastructure recovery after disasters, and the development also reflects strong synergy between state apparatus and the community in strengthening regional resilience and enhancing shared prosperity.
