Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Special Region of Yogyakarta is set to be encircled by two new toll road projects. The first is the Yogyakarta-Solo Toll Road and the second is the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road.

PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk President Director Rivan Achmad Purwantono stated that the development of toll road networks in the Central Java and Yogyakarta corridor is currently focused on strengthening regional connectivity and supporting the local tourism sector.

“Yogyakarta and its surrounding areas hold a strategic position, making toll road connectivity a crucial factor in supporting public mobility and tourism development,” Rivan said on Sunday (31 May 2026).

Supporting tourism connectivity in Central Java has shown significant positive trends in the first quarter of 2026. Toll revenues across several key sections of the Jasa Marga Group recorded annual growth.

Among them, the Semarang-Batang Toll Road grew 16.59% year-on-year, the Solo-Ngawi Toll Road increased 23.52% year-on-year, and the Yogyakarta-Solo Toll Road recorded an 18.91% rise year-on-year. According to Rivan, this growth reflects increased public mobility and economic and tourism activity in the Joglosemar region (Yogyakarta-Solo-Semarang).

During the 2026 long holiday and Eid holidays, the Jasa Marga Group successfully optimised functional lanes. This included the 30.15km operational toll section of the Yogyakarta-Solo Toll Road (Kartasura-Prambanan) and 12.23km of functional lanes (Prambanan-Purwomartani).

Additionally, Section 6 of the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road, spanning 4.85km (Ambarawa-Bawen), was also opened as functional lanes. This series of connectivity acceleration has proven crucial in absorbing daily traffic volume spikes of up to 80% above normal levels. To support the development of the Joglosemar region, Jasa Marga is accelerating construction completion.

“The construction of these toll road projects continues to consider local characteristics through design adjustments around Yogyakarta’s ring road to align with regional planning and local community wisdom,” Rivan added.
