Yogyakarta — The Yogyakarta Regional Police Department (DIY) is preparing several traffic management schemes in anticipation of the 2026 Eid exodus. One key measure involves the functional opening of the Jogja–Solo toll road segment between Prambanan and Purwomartani to help ease vehicle congestion from Yogyakarta to Central Java.

The Traffic Management Directorate of Polda DIY has confirmed that the toll section will be operated exclusively for vehicles leaving the Yogyakarta region towards Klaten, Solo and surrounding areas. This route will serve as access to the Purwomartani toll gate during the mudik period.

Kombes Pol Arie Prasetya Syafa’at, Director of Traffic Management at Polda DIY, explained that the operational period for the functional Jogja–Solo toll road segment Prambanan–Purwomartani will run for 14 days with 12 hours of daily operation. “The functional Jogja–Solo toll road segment Prambanan–Purwomartani will be open for 14 days, from 16 to 29 March 2026, from 06:00 to 18:00 Western Indonesia Standard Time,” Kombes Pol Arie stated.

Arie explained that vehicles from Yogyakarta city can utilise the toll route to continue their journey to Klaten, Solo and surrounding towns. The police have also prepared several vehicle parameters for routes through this section, given the relatively short distance from Jogja–Solo arterial road to Purwomartani toll gate.

“Since the distance from Jogja–Solo arterial road to the Purwomartani toll gate is approximately 586 metres, traffic management measures will be implemented if vehicle queues reach the arterial road,” he said.

To ensure smooth traffic flow, Arie stated that Polda DIY’s Traffic Management Directorate will coordinate with various parties to implement several traffic management strategies along Jogja–Solo road. Several measures include opening and closing the Purwomartani on-ramp, vehicle flow diversion, vehicle flow redistribution, and traffic management through traffic management control systems.
