Several train journeys from Gambir Station are experiencing delays due to an accident involving a KRL and the Argo Bromo train at the Bekasi Timur crossing. A number of passengers have decided to cancel their tickets and switch to other modes of transportation.

One passenger bound for Yogyakarta, Citra (31), expressed deep disappointment over the minimal information provided. She was supposed to depart on the KA Batavia at 09:35 WIB, but by 11:15 WIB, there was still no certainty about the departure.

“There was no information at all. I checked on Instagram, and it wasn’t my train that had issues, so I still came. But by 11:15 WIB, it still hadn’t moved,” said Citra at Gambir Station, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

Citra ultimately decided to cancel her train journey. She chose to book a flight for departure the next day.

“I immediately decided to just take the plane tomorrow. It’s better to arrive in the afternoon the next day than waste time here, especially since I have work matters in Jogja,” she said.

Not much different from passengers on the KA Mataram, Anya (20). She was supposed to depart at 21:40 WIB the previous day, but the train was not dispatched even after she had been sitting in the carriage for nearly three hours.

“I boarded the train at 9 p.m. Waited inside the carriage for about 2 to 3 hours, but it didn’t move. Finally, at midnight, we were told the journey was cancelled,” recounted Anya.

At that time, Anya only learned that her journey was cancelled due to an accident involving a long-distance train (KA) and the KRL Commuter Line at Bekasi Timur Station.

“I only got the information while waiting for the train to depart, but then suddenly there was an accident, so it had to be cancelled,” she said.

Anya rebooked a ticket for departure this morning at 09:30 WIB. However, that train is also experiencing delays.

“Today I booked again, but it’s delayed too. It was supposed to be at 09:30 WIB,” said Anya.

Anya mentioned she needs to return to Jogja to attend her university classes. Therefore, if today’s booked train journey is cancelled, Anya will opt for a plane.

“If it’s cancelled again, if I really need to, I’ll take the plane, if I really need to,” she said.

“There is indeed a class today, so I have to prioritise that, otherwise I won’t be able to attend,” she added.

Observations at the location showed queues of passengers wanting to cancel tickets at the Gambir Station counter were quite busy. Staff at the counter confirmed that passengers can receive a 100 percent refund for trains affected by delays of more than 60 minutes.
