YOGYAKARTA — PT Railink, operator of the KAI Bandara (Airport Railway) service, has increased seat capacity on the Airport Railway in Yogyakarta to 275,000 seats during the 2026 Eid holiday travel period.

Chief Executive of PT Railink Porwanto Handry Nugroho stated that during the 2026 Eid holiday travel period, KAI Bandara will provide 637,000 total seat capacity across its entire operational area. Specifically for the Yogyakarta region, KAI Bandara will provide 275,000 seats.

Porwanto added that the 2026 Eid holiday travel period runs from 11 March to 1 April 2026. Prior to entering the Eid travel period, the company has conducted safety inspections on all trains in use.

“These safety inspections aim to ensure that railway facilities and infrastructure remain in optimal condition throughout the Eid holiday travel period,” he said.

The seat capacity increase is accompanied by service improvements through the addition of mobile customer service units.

“We hope that passengers can enjoy their journeys to and from the airport more easily and pleasantly, particularly in the Yogyakarta region, which is projected to experience increased passenger movement during the Eid holiday period,” he said.

In the Yogyakarta region, the peak outbound travel period is predicted to occur on 18 March 2026, with an estimated 11,000 passengers, while the peak return travel period is expected on 28 March 2026, with an estimated 13,000 passengers.

To support passenger mobility, the KAI Bandara service in Yogyakarta will operate with the earliest departure at 04:20 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) and the final departure from Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) Station at 21:30 WIB.

KAI Bandara also urges all passengers to safeguard their belongings, arrive at the station early, and utilise digital ticket purchase services to ensure that travel during the Eid holiday period proceeds smoothly and comfortably.

Meanwhile, a student passenger from Lombok, East Nusa Tenggara (NTB) named Kayla arrived at Yogyakarta Station to board the airport railway to Yogyakarta International Airport. She has used the airport railway service twice previously before travelling to Yogyakarta International Airport.
