- Nadiem Makarim faces 18-year prison demand in Chromebook corruption case
Public Prosecutors from the Attorney General’s Office demanded a prison sentence of 18 years for Nadiem Anwar Makarim, Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for the 2019-2024 period, in connection with the alleged Chromebook corruption case.
“We demand that the defendant be legally and convincingly declared guilty of committing corruption jointly, as per the primary indictment of the public prosecutor,” said Public Prosecutor (JPU) from the Attorney General’s Office, Roy Riady, during the indictment reading session at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday.
- Issuing circular, Attorney General’s Office affirms state loss auditors not limited to BPK
The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) issued a circular to affirm that auditors of state losses are not solely the Financial Audit Board (BPK).
The circular was issued in response to various perceptions regarding Constitutional Court Decision Number 28/PUU XXIV/2026, which stated that the BPK is authorised to calculate state losses.
- Substantive review decision on IKN Law affirms Jakarta remains national capital
The Constitutional Court (MK) rejected the substantive judicial review of Law Number 3 of 2022 on the State Capital (IKN Law) and affirmed the status of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta (DKJ) as still the national capital.
In the considerations of the MK, read by Constitutional Justice Adies Kadir, as heard from the video of the pronouncement of the decision in case number 71/PUU-XXIV/2026 in Jakarta on Wednesday, the applicant’s argument that the norm of Article 39 paragraph (1) of Law Number 3/2022 contradicts Article 1 paragraph (3) and Article 28D paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution is conditionally rejected insofar as it is interpreted as per the applicant’s petitum formulation, namely “As long as no presidential decision has been established on the relocation of the national capital, Jakarta remains positioned as the Capital of the Republic of Indonesia to ensure certainty and continuity of the state structure.”
- Directorate General of Immigration evaluates visa-free visit facilities
The Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Kemenimipas), is evaluating immigration policies, including the Visa-Free Visit (BVK) facility, following the proliferation of cases involving foreign nationals entering Indonesia suspected of committing cyber crimes.
“Cases involving foreign nationals in illegal activities, including those from countries receiving Visa-Free Visit facilities, are material for our evaluation,” said Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
- Satgas PKH hands over Rp10 trillion from administrative fines to the state
The Forest Area Control Task Force (Satgas PKH) handed over funds amounting to Rp10 trillion from administrative fines to the state treasury.
The handover was carried out symbolically by Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, as Deputy Chair I of the Satgas PKH Directorate, to Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, witnessed directly by President Prabowo Subianto at the Attorney General’s Office Building in Jakarta on Wednesday.
