Jakarta – Yayasan Baitul Maal (YBM) PLN has distributed gift packages to more than 45,000 beneficiaries as a demonstration of social responsibility by PLN personnel towards communities throughout Ramadan 1447 Hijriah. In the initial phase, the programme distributed over 23,000 packages simultaneously across 13 locations throughout various regions of Indonesia on Wednesday, 25 February.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that the programme, which carries the theme “Light of Ramadan’s Blessings 1447 Hijriah,” represents the commitment of PLN personnel to continue delivering concrete benefits to society.

“We hope the distributed packages bring happiness, strengthen spirit, and help communities celebrate Ramadan with greater peace and full of hope,” said Darmawan whilst attending the Ramadan assistance distribution event at PLN Institute of Technology Mosque in Jakarta.

Specifically in the Jabodetabek region, gift packages were distributed simultaneously to more than 2,500 beneficiaries scattered across Kampung Deret Petogongan in South Jakarta; PLN Institute Mosque in West Jakarta; Abdul Wahid Hasyim Foundation Al-Munawaroh Mosque in South Jakarta; Al-Akhbar Mosque in East Jakarta; Amalia Reading Park in South Tangerang; Al-Sofia Congregation Mosque in Bogor City; Al-Muhajirin Mosque in Bogor Regency; Al-Anwar Mosque in Depok; and Al-Hidayah Mosque in Bogor.

The programme is funded by zakat contributions from Muslim PLN employees, managed with trust through YBM PLN to support social activities, religious programmes, and community empowerment. Through this management, zakat is not only distributed as social assistance but also directed to deliver sustainable benefits to beneficiaries.

YBM PLN Chairman General Sulistyo Biantoro explained that support collected for this programme is not only distributed as social aid but also directed to strengthen values of care and encourage beneficiary independence.

“Ramadan is an opportunity for all of us to demonstrate genuine care through sharing actions that bring hope, strengthen social solidarity, and encourage community independence,” said Sulistyo.

The activity also involved the academic community as part of efforts to expand social impact whilst educating younger generations. This received appreciation from PLN Institute of Technology.
