Yayuk nominee for Krantzcke award

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's women's number one tennis player Yayuk Basuki is included as one of the nominees for the Karen Krantzcke Sportmanship Award.

In a press release from Stamford Connecticut yesterday, Sabine Appelmans, Amy Frazier, Martina Hingis and Steffi Graf are also among the nominees to receive the award presented in a Gala evening in Miami, Florida, March 19.

The Doubles Team of the Year will also be given the award of which the nominees are Martina Hingis/Helena Sukova, Lindsay Davenport/Mary Joe Frernandez and Jana Novotna/Arantxa Sanchez Vicario.

The Krantzcke Award has been an annual award from the WTA Tour and is presented to top women tennis players. The award is also given to Most Improved Newcomer of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year. WTA will also present the Player Service Award and Aces Award. (lnt)
