Yamaha Indonesia Targets Ambitious Goals in Rider Development Following World Supersport 300 Championship
Jakarta — Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing’s (YIMM) Motorsport Division is setting its sights on higher achievements in rider development following its protégé’s World Supersport 300 championship triumph in 2024.
“Following our rider’s World Supersport 300 championship win in 2024, we have set targets to move up to the next level. This recent success is the first step towards even greater achievements,” said Johannes, Division Head of CS Service & Motorsport at YIMM, speaking at the Yamaha Media Breakfast 2026 event in Jakarta on Friday.
Johannes emphasised that the key to successful rider development lies in a structured and sustainable coaching roadmap. He illustrated this with the example of Aldi Satya Mahendra, who underwent more than 10 years of development before achieving success at the world competition level.
Yamaha is preparing other riders, including Arai Agaska, to compete in World Supersport events using the Yamaha R7, whilst increasing participation in the Asia Road Racing Championship’s Supersport 600 and AP250 classes. The company is also participating in the All Japan Championship to enhance rider experience in the 600cc class and the R3 Blue Crew Asia-Pacific programme for riders under 15 years of age.
Johannes stated that racing achievements result from collaboration amongst the rider team, sponsors, government, and Indonesian motorsport enthusiasts. “We want to build dreams together and bring the Red and White flag increasingly competitive on the world racing stage,” he concluded.
