One person was killed as a result of reckless riding by a motorcyclist in Pakansari, Cibinong District, Bogor Regency. The accident was triggered by the perpetrator driving against the flow of traffic.

The incident occurred on Sunday (22/2/2026) at 03:00 Western Indonesian Time. The victim’s vehicle collided with the motorcycle of the perpetrator, identified by the initials AF, who was travelling in the wrong direction.

“The suspected perpetrator, AF, riding a Yamaha Mio, was moving from the direction of Cibinong towards Bogor City in the wrong lane, veering left and obstructing the road,” said Acting Head of the Traffic Enforcement Unit at Bogor Police, Inspector Ares Rachman, to reporters on Sunday (22/2).

“At the same time, a Honda Beat motorcycle rider travelling from Bogor towards Jakarta, who was in the correct lane, was struck, resulting in a traffic collision,” he added.

The accident caused the victim to die at the scene. Police and local residents evacuated the victim to a hospital in Cibinong, Bogor Regency.

“The victim, the Honda Beat rider, died and was taken to Bakti Pajajaran Hospital (formerly the Regional General Hospital) in Cibinong,” he concluded.

Wrong-Way Rider Named as Suspect

Police have named the motorcyclist with the initials AF, who was riding against traffic and triggered the fatal crash in Cibinong, Bogor, West Java, as a suspect. One person died as a result of the accident.

“For the actions of suspect AF, he has been charged under Article 310 paragraph 4 of Law Number 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transport, whereby a rider through negligence caused an accident resulting in a fatality,” said Head of Traffic at Bogor Police, Inspector Afif Widhi Ananto, on Monday (23/2).

In addition, the suspect has been charged under Article 312 of Law 22 of 2009, whereby a rider deliberately failed to stop, failed to render assistance, and failed to report the accident to the authorities.

“Carrying a maximum sentence of three years’ imprisonment,” he stated.

Suspect Undergoes Urine Test

The fatal crash case in Cibinong, Bogor, triggered by motorcyclist AF riding against traffic, is under police investigation. AF has undergone a urine test.

“We are investigating his urine test results, and we are still looking into alcohol involvement,” said Head of Traffic at Bogor Police, Inspector Afif Widhi Ananto.

AF has been named a suspect and is currently detained at the police station. The urine test was also conducted to determine whether the suspect had consumed narcotics. Police are also still investigating whether the suspect was involved in illegal street racing prior to the accident.

“We will certainly follow through with these procedures,” he explained.

Perpetrator Attempted to Flee Before Being Apprehended

Motorcyclist AF, who was riding against traffic and triggered the fatal crash in Cibinong, Bogor, attempted to flee after the incident. The victim was left at the scene of the accident.

“Following the incident, upon seeing the victim lying on the road, the suspect left the scene,” said Head of Traffic at Bogor Police, Inspector Afif Widhi Ananto, on Monday (23/2/2026).

Police then pursued the suspect. The perpetrator was eventually apprehended approximately 500 metres from the scene.

“However, together with members of the public, we managed to pursue the suspect and secure both the suspect and his vehicle at the Cibinong Traffic Accident Unit. He was apprehended approximately 500 metres from the scene,” he explained.

Police are continuing to question the suspect, including investigating the reason for his attempt to flee after being involved in the accident.

“We are still investigating that matter. What is clear is that the elements relating to negligence causing death and failure to assist the victim are already part of our investigation,” he said.
