Workers can't leave for Malaysia

PURWOKERTO, Central Java: Some 37 people who signed up with a
local manpower supplier company to work in Malaysia failed to
depart as promised, because a member of staff at the company
embezzled their money.

Dwi Waluyuno, who works at PT Akarinka, admitted that the 37
workers could not leave as scheduled, because one of the
directors had made off with the money collected from the
applicants.

The applicants come from Purwokerto, Purbalingga and Banyumas.

They said they had not reported the case to the police yet
because they were still hoping that the company would send them
on their way to Malaysia, or at least reimburse their money.
