Infrastructure Coordinating Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) conducted a work visit to West Kalimantan, attending the Cap Go Meh celebration in Singkawang whilst ensuring that the development of various strategic infrastructure projects proceeded optimally for the benefit of the community.

“Infrastructure development must have a direct impact on improving residents’ quality of life, strengthening connectivity, creating business opportunities, and supporting sustainable regional economic growth,” AHY stated in a written statement on Monday, 2 March 2026.

The series of activities held on 2-3 March 2026 commenced with AHY’s arrival at Singkawang Airport on Monday (2/3), followed by an inspection of the Singkawang Airport access road project to strengthen connectivity and support regional economic growth.

Subsequently, AHY inspected the People’s School Project on Sagatani Road, Pangmilang, as part of efforts to improve educational facilities for the community.

The first day’s agenda continued with the distribution of social assistance to community groups and a visit to the Ramadan Fair, the official Takjil market of Singkawang City Government at Bird Park. AHY also broke fast and performed the Maghrib prayer at Singkawang’s Grand Mosque.

After the Tarawih prayer, AHY held discussions with Generation Z and millennial students from various educational institutions in Singkawang at Aming Café to gather aspirations regarding development issues and future challenges facing the region.

On Tuesday (3/3), AHY attended the opening of the Cap Go Meh Festival and witnessed the Tatung Parade, which is Singkawang’s cultural icon and national tourism attraction.

AHY’s presence at the celebration represented government support for Chinese community traditions that have long been part of the region’s cultural identity and heritage. The central government continues to strengthen synergy with regional governments to ensure strategic projects are well-targeted and sustainable.

This work visit affirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining social harmony and cultural diversity, whilst ensuring integrated infrastructure development in West Kalimantan for the progress and prosperity of all communities.
