Work From Anywhere Policy Implemented Ahead of Lebaran Holiday, Bekasi KRL Station Sees Lighter Passenger Load
A work from anywhere (WFA) policy ahead of the 2026 Lebaran holiday for both government and private sector employees came into effect today. The policy has had a significant impact on public transport passenger volumes on the KRL commuter rail.
Observations at Bekasi Station on Monday, 16 March 2026, showed considerably lighter passenger numbers. The usual congestion at ticket machines and on the platforms was noticeably reduced.
Upon entering the platform area, there were no signs of the typical crush of workers rushing to catch trains heading to Manggarai or Pasar Senen. Meanwhile, the platform heading to Cikarang was considerably quieter, with passengers standing at greater distances from one another.
The WFA policy ahead of Lebaran is based on a Circular from the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) No. 2/2026 concerning adjustments to the implementation of official duties for civil servants (ASN) in government agencies during national holidays and joint leave periods for Nyepi and Idulfitri 1447 Hijriah.
For the private sector, the 2026 Lebaran WFA policy lasts for five days, based on a Circular from the Minister of Manpower No. M/2/HK.04/II/2026 on the implementation of work from alternate locations for workers and employees at companies during Nyepi and Idulfitri 2026.
The WFA implementation takes place on 16 to 17 March 2026 and is expected to apply on 25, 26, and 27 March 2026, subject to companies’ operational needs.
One worker named Wijaya (31) still had to travel to his office in central Jakarta. He explained that his company has not implemented the WFA scheme and will only begin Lebaran leave on Wednesday.
“Leave at the office really starts on Wednesday until next week. So the 16th and 17th are still work from office as usual,” he said at the station.
In a similar situation, another KRL passenger named Amelia (24) was also still going to her office today. She noted that her workload had actually increased ahead of Lebaran.
“My office is a private company so there’s no WFA or work from home. Especially in months like this when we’re really chasing targets to release reports. But we’ve already started leave from Thursday,” explained the employee working in Jakarta.
