The Mataram City Government (Pemkot) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) will not implement the work from anywhere (WFA) policy for thousands of civil servants on 16–17 March and 25–27 March 2026.

“WFA is essentially a policy determined by each local government. However, we still prefer not to implement it. The distance factor is key – distances in our city are not particularly great. For instance, in East Lombok where the region is more sprawling, it would be more feasible,” said Taufik Priyono, Head of the Civil Service and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM) of Mataram City, when confirmed on Monday, 9 March 2026.

“In Mataram, distances remain manageable within minutes. We simply do not yet need WFA,” he affirmed.

Priyono explained that Mataram City Government permits civil servants who wish to take leave, provided they obtain approval from their respective organisation unit heads.

“That depends on the head of the organisation unit – whether permission is granted or not. Leave is a right; if there is work that cannot be abandoned, it can be postponed,” he stated.

For context, the central government has issued Ministerial Circular (SE) No. 2 of 2026 from the Minister of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) concerning the adjustment of official duties before and after religious holidays.

The WFA arrangements for Nyepi and Eid 2026 will run from 16, 17, 25, 26, and 27 March 2026, with the following schedule:

– 16 March 2026: WFA for Nyepi before Eid 2026

– 17 March 2026: WFA for Nyepi before Eid 2026

– 25 March 2026: WFA after Eid 2026

– 26 March 2026: WFA after Eid 2026

– 27 March 2026: WFA after Eid 2026
