Women, children evacuated
SUBANG, West Java: Search and rescue workers are evacuating women and children from six villages in the Pamanukan district because of fears of worsening flood, Antara reported.
The Cigadung River overflowed, flooding the villages. Hundreds of hectares of rice fields have been inundated.
Most villagers have resisted evacuation, believing the water would recede, but the local district chief has given orders that women and children should be moved to safer ground.
The six villages worst affected are Mulyasari, Pamanukan Hilir, Lengkongjaya, Anggasari, Sukareja and Pamanukan. (emb)
