Witness's House in Ade Kuswara Case Burned, KPK Contacts LPSK
JAKARTA - Following the burning of a witness’s house in the bribery case related to the dismissed Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara by unknown persons, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has requested the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) to ensure the safety of the witnesses.
“At present, it is still being coordinated so that the witnesses can receive protection from the LPSK,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a press statement on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
“The information we received indicates that even the house was allegedly set on fire,” Budi added.
In this case, on 21 December 2025, the KPK named Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara Kunang, HM Kunang (the Regent’s father), and Sarjan as a private individual as suspects.
Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, stated that the bribery case began when Ade Kuswara communicated with Sarjan, a private party providing project packages within the Bekasi Regency administration.
The total “ijon” (advance payment) given by Sarjan to Regent Ade along with HM Kunang amounted to Rp 9.5 billion.
“The money was handed over in four instances through intermediaries,” Asep said during the press conference at the time.
In addition to these fund flows, throughout 2025, Regent Ade is also alleged to have received other payments from various parties, totalling Rp 4.7 billion.
Thus, the total money received by Regent Ade reaches Rp 14.2 billion.
For their actions, Regent Ade Kuswara along with HM Kunang as recipients are charged under Article 12a or Article 11 and Article 12B of the Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) first of the Criminal Code, as well as Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or b or Article 13 of the Money Laundering Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) first of the Criminal Code. Meanwhile, Sarjan as the giver is charged under Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or b or Article 13 of the Money Laundering Law.
