        "content": "<p>JAKARTA - Following the burning of a witness\u2019s house in the bribery\ncase related to the dismissed Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara by unknown\npersons, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has requested the\nWitness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) to ensure the safety of the\nwitnesses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt present, it is still being coordinated so that the witnesses can\nreceive protection from the LPSK,\u201d said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo\nin a press statement on Wednesday (8\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe information we received indicates that even the house was\nallegedly set on fire,\u201d Budi added.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, on 21 December 2025, the KPK named Bekasi Regent Ade\nKuswara Kunang, HM Kunang (the Regent\u2019s father), and Sarjan as a private\nindividual as suspects.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur\nRahayu, stated that the bribery case began when Ade Kuswara communicated\nwith Sarjan, a private party providing project packages within the\nBekasi Regency administration.<\/p>\n<p>The total \u201cijon\u201d (advance payment) given by Sarjan to Regent Ade\nalong with HM Kunang amounted to Rp 9.5 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe money was handed over in four instances through intermediaries,\u201d\nAsep said during the press conference at the time.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to these fund flows, throughout 2025, Regent Ade is also\nalleged to have received other payments from various parties, totalling\nRp 4.7 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, the total money received by Regent Ade reaches Rp 14.2\nbillion.<\/p>\n<p>For their actions, Regent Ade Kuswara along with HM Kunang as\nrecipients are charged under Article 12a or Article 11 and Article 12B\nof the Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) first\nof the Criminal Code, as well as Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or b\nor Article 13 of the Money Laundering Law in conjunction with Article 55\nparagraph (1) first of the Criminal Code.
