JAKARTA - The return flow towards the Jabodetabek area and its surroundings has become smoother thanks to the functional operation of the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II South Toll Road during Lebaran 2026.

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has opened this toll road section, spanning approximately 52 kilometres, to support the smooth return flow, especially for Group I vehicles from Bandung towards Jakarta.

This route serves as an alternative to help ease traffic density in the main Japek Toll corridor and the MBZ Elevated Road.

“The Ministry of PU ensures the readiness of national connectivity infrastructure so that the public can undertake mudik and return journeys in a safer, more comfortable, and efficient manner,” said Dody on Tuesday (24/3/2026).

Technically, the functional sections include Section 3 Setu-Sukaragam spanning 7.75 kilometres, Section 4 Sukaragam-Sukabungah spanning 13 kilometres, Section 5 Sukabungah-Kutanegara spanning 22.75 kilometres, and Section 6 Kutanegara-Sadang spanning 8.50 kilometres.

The presence of this alternative route has been directly felt by road users. One of them, Andra Oktaviani, who was travelling on the return flow from Bandung to Parung Panjang, Bogor Regency, said: “The journey feels smoother and the travel time is more efficient because we don’t have to pass through congestion points on the main route.”

Another user, Muhammad Ali, heading to South Tangerang, expressed the same sentiment.

According to him, the route provides a more controlled travel option even though it is still in the functional stage.

“The route is quite comfortable to drive on and serves as a helpful alternative during the return flow,” said Ali.

For information, the Japek II South Toll Road is designed to span 64.05 kilometres, connecting the Jakarta Outer Ring Road in Bekasi with the Purbaleunyi Toll in Sadang, Purwakarta.

The Ministry of PU urges road users to remain cautious, obey traffic signs, and follow the instructions of on-site officers, considering that some sections are still under construction.
