With Assets Worth Rp 4.1 Billion, Ombudsman Chairman Hery Susanto Arrested by Attorney General's Office in Nickel Corruption Case
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) of the Republic of Indonesia has designated Hery Susanto, Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman, as a suspect in a criminal corruption case concerning the governance of nickel mining businesses in Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra). The suspect designation was announced by the Head of the Legal Information Centre of Kejagung, Anang Supriatna, following the completion of evidence gathered by investigators. “The investigative team has designated suspect HS,” said Anang during a press conference at Kejagung in Jakarta on Thursday (16/4/2026). Hery Susanto’s wealth is listed in the State Organiser’s Wealth Report (LHKPN) submitted to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The total reported wealth of Hery Susanto amounts to Rp 4.1 billion. His assets include land and buildings valued at Rp 2.35 billion, comprising land and buildings in East Jakarta worth Rp 1.8 billion, and land and buildings in Cirebon worth Rp 550 million. Additionally, there is a Vespa LX IGET 125 motorcycle from 2022 valued at Rp 50 million, and a 2025 minibus worth Rp 545 million. According to the ombudsman.go.id website, Hery Susanto has served as Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman for the 2026-2023 period. He previously served as a member of the Indonesian Ombudsman for the 2021-2026 period and was re-elected for a second term after undergoing a fitness and propriety test by Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR-RI) in January 2026.
