Wimar will meet fans in new show
JAKARTA (JP): Fans of Wimar Witoelar's Perspektif television
talk show, rejoice! Wimar is now switching to radio and his
program, Perspektif Baru, will be broadcasted every Wednesday and
Friday.
The first program will be aired tomorrow at 5 p.m. featuring
noted economist Dr. Sjahrir on Radio M97 (97.05 FM), Kompas
reported.
Transcripts of the talk shows will appear regularly in a
number of dailies including Media Indonesia, Nusa Tenggara,
Kedaulatan Rakyat and Manado Pos.
The second in line in the 40-minute radio talk show will be
pop singer Ebiet G. Ade, a pioneer of Indonesia's modern music
generation who will discuss the joys and sorrows of humanity as
he interprets it.
Since his popular TV was banned last September, Wimar toured
the country, swapping his television stage for hotel halls with a
limited audience in a production called Perspektif Live.
His television was banned because the government considered
it controversial. It often touched on sensitive issues.
"Wimar will maintain his old philosophy of seeking new,
optimistic perspectives to cope and seek solutions to the present
discontent we are all engaged in," said Hani Hasyim, producer of
Perspektif Baru.
Wimar will continue to invite public figures as well as people
in the street who can aspire hopes for a better future, Hani
said.
"The underlying theme is to seek an alternative to elate us
from our present discontent and pessimism," she said. (14)
