Wimar will meet fans in new show<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Fans of Wimar Witoelar's Perspektif television
\ntalk show, rejoice! Wimar is now switching to radio and his
\nprogram, Perspektif Baru, will be broadcasted every Wednesday and
\nFriday.<\/p>\n
The first program will be aired tomorrow at 5 p.m. featuring
\nnoted economist Dr. Sjahrir on Radio M97 (97.05 FM), Kompas
\nreported.<\/p>\n
Transcripts of the talk shows will appear regularly in a
\nnumber of dailies including Media Indonesia, Nusa Tenggara,
\nKedaulatan Rakyat and Manado Pos.<\/p>\n
The second in line in the 40-minute radio talk show will be
\npop singer Ebiet G. Ade, a pioneer of Indonesia's modern music
\ngeneration who will discuss the joys and sorrows of humanity as
\nhe interprets it.<\/p>\n
Since his popular TV was banned last September, Wimar toured
\nthe country, swapping his television stage for hotel halls with a
\nlimited audience in a production called Perspektif Live.<\/p>\n
His television was banned because the government considered
\nit controversial. It often touched on sensitive issues.<\/p>\n
\"Wimar will maintain his old philosophy of seeking new,
\noptimistic perspectives to cope and seek solutions to the present
\ndiscontent we are all engaged in,\" said Hani Hasyim, producer of
\nPerspektif Baru.<\/p>\n
Wimar will continue to invite public figures as well as people
\nin the street who can aspire hopes for a better future, Hani
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
\"The underlying theme is to seek an alternative to elate us
\nfrom our present discontent and pessimism,\" she said. (14)<\/p>",
