PT KCIC has provided clarification regarding a viral video showing the Whoosh high-speed train stopping in the Kopo area, Bandung. The Whoosh G1046 train on the Tegalluar Summarecon–Halim route was temporarily halted on Friday, 3 April 2026, at 4:45 PM WIB to ensure travel safety.

The train was stopped at KM 126+383 following the handling of a foreign object, specifically a sheet of metal, that entered the track area due to extreme weather. Although it was briefly stopped, KCIC assured that the safety systems functioned properly.

Prior to the incident, advanced sensors installed along the tracks had detected the presence of the foreign object. This allowed the train driver and control centre to take early anticipatory measures to avoid potential hazards.

The handling of the foreign object was brief. Field personnel successfully cleared the tracks at 4:48 PM WIB. Just one minute later, at 4:49 PM WIB, the G1046 train resumed its journey to Halim Station. Overall, Whoosh operations continued normally without significant delays.

On the same day, the Bandung city area and surroundings were hit by heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning. This extreme weather reportedly caused several fallen trees and damage to public facilities on several main roads. The strong winds enabled lightweight objects like sheet metal to be blown and enter the train track area.

Nevertheless, KCIC assured that there was no damage to other railway infrastructure. All infrastructure was confirmed to remain in safe and reliable condition.

KCIC management emphasised that all Whoosh tracks are closely monitored through integrated multi-layered safety systems with the Operation Control Centre (OCC) or operational control centre.

“KCIC emphasises that all Whoosh tracks remain safe and are monitored through various multi-layered safety systems. These systems include foreign object detection sensors, heavy rain and wind sensors, as well as earthquake detection systems integrated with travel control,” stated the official KCIC statement.

A thorough inspection of the tracks was also conducted post-incident. Based on the evaluation results, all infrastructure was confirmed to be in prime condition to serve passengers.

To date, the Whoosh travel schedule is monitored as normal. Despite the weather-related hiccup, public enthusiasm remains high. The station situation still appears crowded with passengers returning to Jakarta after the long weekend holiday, with most departures originating from Padalarang Station.
