Whoosh Records 15 Million Passenger Trips Since Launch
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail (KCJB), known as Whoosh, has served more than 15 million passenger trips as of Tuesday (14/4), marking stable growth in operational capacity and service quality, according to the high-speed rail operator, PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC).
This high-speed train, built through Indonesia-China cooperation, has recorded a peak daily passenger number of 26,770 people, with the highest occupancy rate reaching 99.64 per cent, KCIC revealed, adding that the passenger composition continues to increase, with the number of foreign tourists rising. More than 760,000 foreign tourist trips have been served, highlighting the increasingly important role of the high-speed rail in facilitating regional exchanges and boosting tourism.
KCIC stated that the high-speed rail project has entered a phase of rapid growth from its initial post-launch stage, with the total number of passengers having surpassed 10 million. Transportation efficiency, service standards, and brand recognition have seen overall improvements.
Along with the expanding impact of the high-speed rail network, the service significantly shortens inter-city travel times along its route, enhancing regional connectivity and coordinated development, KCIC stated.
Launched on 17 October 2023, this 142.3 km rail line operates at a maximum speed of 350 km per hour. Its presence reduces the travel time between Jakarta and Bandung from more than three hours to just 46 minutes, offering a fast and comfortable travel option for the public.
