The management of PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI) has revealed that two Boeing 737-200 aircraft wrecks have been parked in the company’s apron area since 2005. They are currently searching for the owner, as there are plans to construct a hangar at the location.

PT DI’s Manager of Corporate Communications, Adi Prastowo, stated that the two Boeing aircraft arrived at the PT DI facility in 2005. At that time, he said, PT Bouraq intended to perform maintenance on the two planes in cooperation with PT Aero Nusantara Indonesia (ANI). However, PT ANI’s facilities were incomplete, leading to the work being subcontracted to PT DI. Over time, PT ANI underwent a change in ownership, and the maintenance process was never continued.

Some time ago, PT DI sent a letter to PT ANI inquiring about the ownership status of the two aircraft, and PT ANI responded that it had no connection to the planes. Adi said the company also coordinated with PT Bouraq, the airline that owned the aircraft, which has since been declared bankrupt. A letter was also sent to the curator, who replied that the two aircraft were not listed in PT Bouraq’s records.

Adi mentioned that the company received information suggesting the procurement of the aircraft originated from the government, which provided 10 planes to the state-owned enterprise PT PANN as a lessor to be distributed to several airlines in Indonesia, including PT Bouraq. Coordination with PT PANN, which has been liquidated by the government, resulted in a response that the assets were not recorded by the company.

Meanwhile, the announcement published on social media is a legal requirement for taking future action or managing the two aircraft. After 14 days, if no official owner is found, PT DI will have the right to manage the two aircraft. “Whether we cooperate with other parties to turn them into learning facilities or something else. For your information, we plan to build a hangar in the area where these aircraft are located, so we need certainty regarding the management of these two planes,” he said.
