While Awaiting Completion of Data, Government Accelerates Distribution of Recovery Aid in Sumatra
Head of the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Kasatgas PRR) Post-Sumatra Disaster, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, emphasised that the government is continuously accelerating recovery from the hydrometeorological disaster’s impacts in Sumatra through phased financial aid distribution to affected communities. He explained that fund disbursement is being carried out as quickly as possible for residents whose data is available, without needing to await the completion of the entire data collection process across all areas. “There is no need to wait for the data to be fully complete. Whatever is available is disbursed immediately. The mechanism is phased because the amount is substantial and widespread,” Tito stated in a press release received by Kompas.com on Wednesday (25/3/2026). This statement was delivered by Tito during a press conference at the Presidential Staff Office in Jakarta on Wednesday. He detailed that the government has set the aid amounts for housing repairs at Rp15 million for lightly damaged houses, Rp30 million for moderately damaged ones, and Rp60 million for heavily damaged structures. Additionally, the government is providing household furniture aid of Rp3 million, economic support of Rp5 million, and Life Guarantee (Jadup) in the form of Rp15,000 per person per day for side dishes over three months. To date, the central government continues to encourage regions that have not yet submitted aid requests to promptly deliver data on affected residents. According to Tito, accelerating the submission of data is crucial so that administrative processes and aid disbursement can be carried out immediately. He also reminded local governments not to wait for full data collection to finish but to submit available data right away, enabling aid to be disbursed promptly. “There are two regions that have not yet submitted requests up to now, and we are continuously urging them on this,” Tito said.
