Where to enjor your Idul Fitri festivities

JAKARTA (JP): Four of Jakarta's major tourist destinations are
offering various programs to attract visitors during the Idul
Fitri public holidays, which fall March 3 and 4.

The four tourist destinations are the Indonesia in Miniature
Park in East Jakarta, Ancol Amusement Park in North Jakarta,
Ragunan Zoo in South Jakarta and Senayan Amusement Park in
Central Jakarta.

Dandoel Hardoyono, public relations manager of the Indonesia
in Miniature Park said that the management of the park has hired
noted singers such as the Bimbo Group, Ayu Soraya, Ona Sutra and
the Spinner Band to entertain visitors.

The shows will be held from March 3 to 12.

Dandoel predicted that visitors to the park during the Idul
Fitri public holidays this year will reach 510,704 people.

Antara reported on Monday that Dandoel said the park will also
hold an Islamic vocal group contest for women, youths and
children.

Rizali Zakaria of the Ancol Amusement Park said that Ancol
will attract visitors by presenting shows held by a group of
performers executing several feats of strength.

They will perform pulling a car with their hair, being run
over by a car, being burned by fire, eating iron and bending iron
bars.

Rizali said that the group has performed its acts in such
European countries as Spain, Holland and Britain as well as in
the United States.

Rizali said the park will also present shows of some famous
Dangdut singers, including Marakarma, Hasan Mansur, Rhoma Irama
and Elvy Sukaesih.

The shows will be held from March 3 to 6.

Eddy Rasyid, Ragunan Zoo's program and promotion manager, said
that the zoo will feature attractions such as a 16-meter long
python snake from Kalimantan and bear, beaver, and elephant
shows.

Sujoso, general manager of the Senayan Amusement Park, said
the park will present performances of Reog Ponorogo, a
traditional dance from East Java, and Kuda Lumping, a dance where
the performers work themselves into a trance and are then able to
perform such feats as eating glass and being whipped without
feeling any affects.

Sujoso said the entrance fee will not be increased from the
regular price of Rp 2,000 (U.S. 90 cents) for adults and Rp 1,000
for children. (mas)
