JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The second hearing in the acid attack case against Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus, at the Jakarta Military Court is scheduled for Wednesday (6/5/2026). However, the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) has confirmed that Andrie Yunus will not attend the hearing. TAUD member Airlangga Julio stated that Andrie is still recovering health-wise during the hearing period. Additionally, Julio emphasised that Andrie Yunus has not yet received a physical summons from the Jakarta Military Court to attend the trial. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that TAUD had obtained verbal information from the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) regarding the summons for Andrie to attend the second hearing. However, according to Julio, they have never seen the summons letter directly. “And just now we tried to confirm with KontraS, and KontraS conveyed that Andrie also has not received the physical summons for 6 May,” he explained. Therefore, Julio assessed that formally, Andrie Yunus has not received an official summons from the Military Court, either based on military criminal procedure law or civilian criminal procedure law. TAUD member Alif Fauzi Nurwidiastomo requested that the Jakarta Military Court halt the summons for Andrie Yunus to appear in person at the hearing. He assessed that there are strong reasons why Andrie cannot yet be brought to court as he is still undergoing recovery due to the acid attack on 12 March 2026. “This becomes sufficient reason for the presiding judge not to proceed or continue the summons process because Andrie is still undergoing recovery,” he continued. On the other hand, Alif highlighted the presiding judge’s statement in the first hearing of the acid attack case at the Jakarta Military Court on 29 April 2026. According to him, the judge threatened to impose provisions of Article 152 of Law No. 31 of 1997 on Military Justice if Andrie Yunus fails to attend the hearing.
